Hi All,
It seems that most of you have the same issues which all boil down to an incorrect setup of the kernal software for your chosen DS card. In an effort to help you and get you up and running with your DS card quickly we have written these guides.
Follow this guide step by step and you should have a working DS card at the end. This guide is not specific to any particular DS card as the process is the same for them all.
STEP1: Preparing your PC
Before you start to find the software for your DS card you should install winrar. Installing this now will solve any future issues you will have after you have downloaded your software from your DS card vendor. WinRar is a FREE tool that allows you to extract ZIP and RAR files. ZIP and RAR files are a set of files that have been compressed into one file and are a common way of distributing software over the internet. The benefits are that the compressed files are smaller and more compact. It also allows you to merge a whole series of files and folders into one file for distribution.
The people who make the DS cards and who write the software to make them work always use ZIP and RAR files. Also the game files you may eventually end up using are often distributed as ZIP and/or RAR files too.
NOTE: You only need to download and install WinRAR once for your PC, so only complete this step if you have never done this for the PC you are working on!
1) Click on this link to go to the WinRAR site
2) Choose to download either the 32bit or the 64bit version shown in the image below. The version you choose should match that of your operating system. So if you have installed a 32bit version of windows then you will need the 32bit version of winrar. If you have no idea what version of windows you have then read this to find out: How do I find out what version of windows I have?
3) When you click the to download the link you need you will be asked to save the file to your PC. (If you do not get asked then it will be saved to your default downloads folder in your USERS folders). Choose a place to save the download file, the best place, so that you do not lose the file, is your desktop.
4) Once the download is finished go to your desktop where you saved it
5) Double click the file to start installing WinRar
6) Click Install
7) Leave all default options and clock OK
8) Click DONE
9) WinRAR is now installed! Close this window
10) You can now delete the insatll fiel from your desktop :-)
That's it WinRAR is now installed. You do not need to learn how to use it. Basically the program is now built into windows and new options will be available to extract RAR and ZIP files when you press the right mouse button on them. You will see this later when you have downloaded your DS card software and need to extract it.
