There are so many clones and variations of the same cards out there and its very easy to fall into the trap and end up downloading software for a similar card as yours. For instance as of time of writing this there are three known manufacturers of the R4 Gold cards! Each different one has its own software and neither software will work on the other. So as you can see it is imperative that you find and download the right version for your card.

We have created this guide to help you find the right software, but if you can, the first port of call should be to look on your DS card and see if you can see a URL written on the card. Most do and this is where you should go on-line to and download the software. If you can not do this then follow this guide further and hopefully we will help you find the right one.

1) Go and get your DS card and look at the sticker on the front

2) Try to find a URL (Internet address) - such as www.r4i-sdhc.com. See the images above for example URLS for some of the cards available at time of writing. Make sure you copy the URL EXACTLY as it appears, check and double check this

3) Type the URL into anew browser tab or window.

4) Once that has loaded find the downloads or software section and download the english kernel to your desktop.

5) If you can not find a URL on your DS card please read this to try to find out what software you need. WHAT SOFTWARE TO USE: When there is no URL on your card

6) You should now have the latest and correct software kernel for your particular card saved onto your desktop. This will either be a ZIP file or a RAR file.

NOW GO TO: STEP 4: Installing the Kernel to your Micro SD

RE: HOW TO: Setting up your DS Card - STEP 3: Downloading the RIGHT Software

What's the URL on the card Jules?

RE: HOW TO: Setting up your DS Card - STEP 3: Downloading the RIGHT Software

hi my R4i is gold and has 1.4v written on it with SDHC Revolution for DS/NDSI/NNDSL/NDS
