If you have not completed STEP 1 then please go and do that first:
HOW TO: Setting up your DS Card - STEP 1: Installing WinRAR
STEP2: Formatting your Micro SD
It is quite important that your micro sd card that you intend to use in your DS card is formatted properly. If you are using a brand new card then you can skip this step but if you have had problems with the card then just to rule out formatting issues follow these steps.
This is also a useful step if you have a working DS card but the files take ages to load.
1) Visit official SD Formatter from the SD Association website: http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/eula

2) Accept the licence agreement at the bottom of the page
3) Save the file to your Desktop
4) Double click the file and install using all the default options
5) Close the read me file after install is finished
6) Put your Micro SD card into a card reader and into your PC
7) Close all popups that may appear after you insert your card into your PC
8) Load the Formatter tool

9) Choose the program from your program files

9) Choose OPTION

9) Set the Format Size Adjustment to ON
10) Back at the main screen choose FORMAT

11) Choose OK

12) Your card is now formatted resized back to SD standard :-)
Your card is now initialised and a great place to start before you download the software and start loading files onto it!
NOW GO TO: STEP 3: Downloading the RIGHT Software

I just want to thank you for your very helpful instruction on getting my iRav up and running.
I followed step by step, picture by picture and within 1 day I had my SD cards formatted correctly and ready to go. And for a “Grandmother who calls the grandkids for anything hi tech” this was no small feat.
I also would like to suggest to anyone using this information, that anywhere in the instructions that says “ insert micro “SD” into card reader” that you use the usb storage stick that comes with iRav instead of the card reader. I had problems with my computers finding the card reader, but the minute I start to us the storage stick it found it every time.

I have an R4 Revolution for DS (NDSL/NDS) card for my DSlite. It used to work fine until recently where it would not let me transfer games onto the SanDisk 2GB MicroSD Card, with an I/O transfer error. I reformatted the SD card using the SD Card Formatter program and redownloaded the (hopefully) right kernel for the card (www.r4ds.cn, R4_v1.18_English). When I tried to copy over the kernel files I got the same I/O error. I can't get anything to copy to the card now, can you please help me?

Hi
Im having problems with a 3DS ive bought for my daughters Christmas present. I am getting an error message saying error please power off the DS. When following the tutorial i had problems formatting the SD card.
The link for formatting doesnt work http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/eula so i used the SD card formatter on the same site, https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/eula_windows/
however my computer brings up a message saying the system admistrator has set policy to prevent this application. So i used used the standard windows formatter would this cause the error???
When we first powered on the 3DS it completed an automatic update!
Ant help is appriciated
