Help! I have an R4i SDHC v1.4 (red box) upgrade revolution for DS (NDSi/NDSL/NDS) card ( www.r4i-sdhc.com) for the dsi, purchased dec 2009 and have downloaded the software 3 times now! Still getting the 'loading... system date error please check NDS system date' on the top screen and the bottom is blank.  I've even got winrar as advised too but still not working.  Where am i going wrong? Angry

I also have an R4 SDHC upgrade revolution for ds (ndsl/nds) card - www.r4i-sdhc.com for the ds.  I haven't even tried this one yet!

Please please help, is it the wrong software i'm downloading??

By davereap - 14/04/2010 09:04:00
my card just came up with this error message, despite the date settings being accurate on the DS
So I tried changing the date back one day...and the card worked ok...
Moving  the date forward one or 2 days still gave the error

Next I moved the date back 2 months and the card worked...

so I retried at the correct date just to make sure and the error message returned...

I am now running with the date set back 2 months and wonder when it gets back to the 14th april whether it will go wrong again

weird stuff

Ok, so at least I know we're not the only ones with this problem.  Unsure   All FOUR  Blink of the cards in our household have had exactly the same error message today.  I have applied the same fix as mentioned above, but only adjusting back one day.  Will wait and see what happens tomorrow...Whistling

By dafeng2010 - 15/04/2010 15:23:53
I just encounter the same problem and I accidentally know the solution

To fix this problem in a simple way "No Download required" and "No Reformatting your NDS"

1. Go to system setting
2. Click "Date" under the "Profile"
3. Adjust the Date for example 04/14/2010 change to 04/14/2009
    just decrease the year

Hope it Help you out ^_^

Good Morning,
We have had exactly the same problem today "system date error. please check NDS system date"  so put it back a day all ok and works but put it forward to 15th april same error appears.  Thought my girls had done something to the DS poor things always get the blame, but looking at this forum we are not the only ones with this problem what a relief.

Lets see what happens tomorrow if it happens again will put date back a couple of months too!!

Thanks for help on this forum today my girls are happy for now yippee!!
By Worslup - 14/04/2010 09:59:58
Hi,

I know how to change the date if thats what you need to do?

Take the R4 card out completely and turn ds on.
Touch screen to continue
This will take you to the screen where it says Pictochat in one box and DS download play in the other.
Underneath these 2 boxes is a picture of a DS press this icon.
Then you will get 4 different colour boxes go to the blue one with a clock and calender on it and click it.
Then click the calender icon and this is where you can change the date.
Good luck and hope this helps.

The same has happened to my daughters ds this morning - have moved it back to January but hoping there is a permanent solution thanks
By Lottie164 - 14/04/2010 11:28:05
Hi, I've had the same problem as well, ''System date error! Please check NDS system date.'' I've tryed everything to fix and so far the thing that works is if you put your actual DS's system date on your DS back a month or two.

Although this means that I can use it, it is a bit of an inconvienience, because some of the games i downloaded need the DS's time to work propely.
By sal7897 - 14/04/2010 11:44:40
No way!

This has just happened to my r4 card too.

My daughter has just come back from a sleepover at a friends and came back with her DS displaying the same error mesage. Of course I blamed her (lots of shouting and telling her that the DS is expensive and should be cared for) and then I found this thread so THANK YOU!

Phew - I'm going to change the date back a year and keep my eyes open for a permanent fix.
By MissySpaceGirl - 14/04/2010 13:16:02
Thank god for this website. My sons did the same four hours ago so have now amended the date to a couple of years before and it works. Hoping a permenant solution is forthcoming soon.

Ps: dont need to take card out to amend date. Just switch on and go to system settings and update date and go bk to dsi menu and away you go!
By Midders - 14/04/2010 13:46:28
Same problem with check system date on my daughters r4 card.
didn't wanna change the date so i tried an experiment.

Removed everything off the card except the roms dir.

Then loaded the r4i stuff i've got for the card i use in my dsi-xl (thinking it says it's backwards compatible... lets see. lol)
   Version I used was R4i English V1.19b

Popped it back into her ds lite and roberts your mothers brother as they say. lol sry.
It worked for us lets hope it works for you guys too.

I've read elsewhere that if you take everything off like i did then reload the firmware that should work too but i don't know cos I only found that out after i'd got ours working and my daughter won't let me have it back to see if the other way works too.

By tateygirl - 14/04/2010 16:22:05
hi all .
i had same problem from this morning. just changed the date on my DS by one day. and my R4 card works again.
Thanks for advice .
By polheg - 14/04/2010 17:33:43

Hope this helps. Today both my girls told me that their DS's had frozen with the system date error message. Like others, if I reset the date to an earlier time they worked.

However, I decided to relocate the files on the R4 card to a file on my PC for safe keeping and deleted the operating files ie: moonmemo, moonshl2 etc.

I the re-formatted the SD card and re-installed the four operating files. Once I had transferred my data files back from the PC the Nintendos operated fine with current date set. Whether or not they will pack up tomorrow I do not know.

I wrote to 'info@r4i-sdhc.com'  and I have pasted their reply below. It sort of makes sense, but I have not tried it out. Will wait and see how my method works out.

Dear Customer:
First of all,we appreciate your feedback and your support.
If you have R4-SDHC for DSL ,DS, or R4i-sdhc v1.4 for DSI, DSI XL, DSI LL, then pls donwload 1.20b kernel and try will be solve the problem ! if you have R4i-sdhc without v1.4 mark, then pls donwload 1.09b kernel in tomorrow and will be work !  so sorry cause any inconvenient !

By the way , in the moment, you can set up the console back of current date will be work again !

By pkelly20 - 15/04/2010 23:39:05
i've eventually managed to download the v1.20b upgrade. You need to use winzip to unzip files and then copy them to your DSI, once you have copied the files across it will work with the correct date as I have just done it.

Good luck to everyone else

You do need to be patient though as the download does take a few hours to download.
By bessbatia - 15/04/2010 15:34:39
Thank you all so much. tried everything. I even bought a data cable to see if that would help. I set the date back 2 months and yipee
does anyone know how this has happenend.

Looks like it is something in the core of the kernels the r4 cards and variants use as it seems to affect many types of r4 and clones. I would say it is something similar to the Y2K bug - Just an undetected flaw somewhere in the code.
At http://www.r4isdhc.com/r4-blog/ there is the following statement.

Due to the fault of our R4 team, except R4(I) SDHC V2.0,all the kernels can not work normally base on the date after 14th, April, 2010. The issues are the system date error and when you booting up the consoles, you couldn’t enter into the main manu. We are awfully sorry for this. The temporary solution is to adjust your system date before 14th, April, 2010. R4 team will remedy this bug with the latest kernel and do the activity to reward the consumers! The latest information for this activity will be released at www.r4isdhc.com and www.nds9.com. Please pay more attention to this!

There isn't a new kernel up yet (for this particular site/card at least) but they seem to be working on it.
By Zybex - 16/04/2010 14:42:14
The fixed kernels are up now if you have a card from http://www.r4isdhc.com/
By gedi - 16/04/2010 13:22:10
I have the same error on my ds and like some others i have changed my date to january and the ds works fine now.
By - 01/05/2010 19:20:07
for some reason the date must be set back before the 13th of april i suggest a year back and it should work fine thats for the dsi but if its for a ds lite then the date must be accurate
By gee - 29/04/2010 16:45:23
first take the r4 card out.turn on ds.tap the small ds icon on the bottom middle of screen.tap the blue box with the clock.tap the blue calendar to change the date settings.set the date to before your card stopped working.Ive just done this and it worked!
By happy mum - 04/05/2010 03:11:57
i to had the same prob ..tried everything  but didnt work ..changed the date back 2 months and the r4 card works again ..thanks for the info
By avlis2010 - 15/06/2010 14:16:14

Thank you very much.
The problem was fixed. It works again.

By Hyper999999 - 22/06/2010 00:42:46
I dunno guys, its weird I keep updating the software and then again you get the system date error. Like if they do it on purpose so you can be updating the software. If you just going to keep old games in there just keep the last update and have the date set at year 2000. Only if you are going to keep getting new ones update the firmware for patching purposes.... Smile Smile. Some have the WiFi auto update. Only update through wifi if you have realiable internet connection otherwise it will fail and result in firmware corruption....
By bluesexpistol - 30/06/2010 21:41:01
thanks that solved the problem
By aashir603 - 06/08/2010 09:38:21
Well did you know i found a solution when i went to Japan my cousin told me it.
It's simple follow these steps:
1. Insert your microsd adapter with your microsd card.
2. Whatever drive it is in right click that drive and click format.
3. Set the file system as FAT32. Warning!!!!!!! It will delete all your files so back them up!
4. Click on Format and it will take 2 mins if you don't have any files on it. If you do it will take 10-20mins.

If its too difficult then watch my video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w77MDdCFy7Y
By rusty12345 - 14/07/2011 18:18:34
i had same problem on 2 dsi with r4i cards and 1 ds lite with r4i i changed date on all machines to 2010 and all work fine now
By middley70 - 20/05/2010 19:46:56
if you download new software from where you got the card from it will work with the correct date, i downloaded from www.r4i.co.uk now works properly
By mrsmiggins80 - 14/06/2010 19:24:16
had the same problem today. after reading advice here, moved date to june 13th 2010 and now it works fine!! technology eh!!
By R4DSCards Tech - 11/01/2010 17:23:42
Hi Kez,

Have you checked your DSi system date & time - strangely this needs to be accurate for the R4i card to work properly.
By R4DSCards Tech - 14/04/2010 17:48:54
Hi guys,
The people at www.r4i-sdhc.com have release version 1.20b and that fixes the datetime issue.  If you have a card from there go and check it and download it. I am sure other vendors will follow suit shortly so keep an eye on kernel updates from your R4 card manufacturer.
By R4DSCards Tech - 29/04/2010 16:53:35
This error cropped up again for owners for cards from www.r4isdhc.com - however they have released a new kernel to fix this - go to their site and download the latest version for your card and the issue will dissapear - we have tested this to be true.

By R4DSCards Tech - 06/09/2010 10:53:34
From time to time this date error crops up.  it is a way of the genuine manufacturer of the cards wiping out the "fake" cards.  This can simple be resolved by setting the DS console to say last year 2009. Obviously this is only a temporary fix.

The only way to resolve this is to update the software on your Micro SD card.  The new software will become available on the manufacturers website, the URL should be written on the R4 card or on the box.

Simply remove all of the files you wish to keep to a safe place on your computer and format your Micro SD card.  I recommend using the SD formatter to do this - http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/  (please make sure to set "Format Size Adjustment" to ON in the OPTION menu)

Then you can download the new software.  it's always best to check that it's working before transferring your game files.

Good luck!
