We have 2 older R4 sdhc cards that have worked great with our daughter old DS and DS lite. We bought a new DSi last August and also bought a R4i. Written on the card is R4 with a small i in a circle, under this it says; Revolution for DS and in brackets (NDSI/NDSL/NDS) under this the web address www.r4ultra.com. When we first bought it we was told that the software is not available for it to work with a DSi so we have left it in the box. I have since been to the website and downloaded the latest s/ware but we still get an error message when we tap on the game Icon in the scroll bar. It says; An error has occurred Press and Hold the power button to turn the system off. so on and so on.The micro DS card is a Kingston 4gb sd hc card.
should this card work with a DSi and can anyone help to get this going.
Cheers.

Hi Den,
Unfortunately the R4 DS card you have purchased is not compatible with the latest Nintendo DSi firmware (1.4). It was thought that the vendors of the DS cards would be able to bring out a software revision to fix this issue but after much effort this was not possible. To fix the issue required a hardware change. Therefore to get an R4 Card working ion your DSi you will need to purchase an R4i that is 1.4 compatible. If you would like a recommendation please let me know.
Many Thanks

A recommendation for a card that will work would be great.
It must work with the DSi and a SD HC 4 gig card.
Thanks.

Hi Den,
Even though your DS firmware says 1.2E we have seen this before. We understand that, even though your DSi firmware is only 1.2, key aspects of your DS have been updated to prevent the use of these 4 cards.
You can buy a 1.4 compatible R4i card here: R4i
Many Thanks

Thanks Techy, after reading your reply yesterday I looked on your sight and found your where to buy Genuine R4 type cards recommendations area. I ordered one straight away. Thanks for your help at least not all is lost. The older R4i card worked with the 4 gig SDHC card in my wifes DS lite. It needed to be formatted to fat 32 and ALLOCATION UNIT SIZE 8192 bytes, Quick format.
Thanks again.
Den.

As a follow up to the above post, I received my new R4i upgrade SDHC Revolution. Its called a happy box I think. I also took delivery of a new 4 gig micro SDHC card (Kingston) Followed all instructions from our R4i manufacturers website. This involved downloading the kernel 1.14b and loading it onto the new R4i card. I loaded one game and this did work but took some time to load. My daughters DSi is using firmware 1.2e. Would upgrading to version 1.4 help the load speed of the games or is this a problem with the 4 gig Kingston brand card.
Thanks, Den

Hi Den
Upgrading to 1.4 wont speed the loading up unfortunately. Its an issue with all DS Cards, Not just R4i. If you can send the Kingson Back and swap for a Sandisk which should be much quicker.. :-)
Out of interest memorycardzoo had told us that they stopped shipping 4gb Kingston cards with R4 cards - did you buy yours from them?
Many Thanks
